Xiaomi SU7: Long-Term Outdoor Parking Won't Cause Significant Paint Degradation

On November 25. Xiaomi Auto released the 101st episode of its "Ask Xiaomi" Q&A series, addressing user concerns about the Xiaomi SU7. including outdoor paint protection, child seat installation convenience, and the functionality of interior cameras.

Advanced Paint Protection Technology

The Xiaomi SU7 uses a 3C2B coating process, comprising eight layers of coating. This includes an additional middle coating layer that increases UV isolation from 99% to approximately 99.9%, effectively protecting the electrophoretic paint layer. Even with prolonged outdoor parking, the car’s paint will not exhibit significant degradation.

Child Seat Installation Made Easy

The rear seats on both sides of the Xiaomi SU7 are equipped with ISOFIX anchor points covered by caps. When installing a child safety seat, users can simply open the cap and easily insert the seat’s connecting rods into the anchor points. When the child seat is not in use, the cap can be closed for a seamless appearance. Xiaomi Auto recommends users choose ISOFIX-compatible child seats appropriate for their child's age and weight.

Driver Monitoring Camera for Enhanced Safety

Positioned between the steering wheel and the instrument screen, the Xiaomi SU7 features a camera designed to monitor the driver’s state. It can detect behaviors such as closed eyes, head turns, yawning, or using a phone during a call, identifying fatigue or distracted driving. The system provides timely alerts to promote safe driving.

Importantly, this system operates entirely on the vehicle’s local computing unit, with no image data being recorded or transmitted externally. Users can disable the driver fatigue/distracted driving alerts via the "Settings - Driving Preferences" menu on the central control screen or deactivate the camera directly through the car’s permissions management system.
