Although BYD has been the sales champion in the new energy vehicle sector for two consecutive years, and its products are highly recognized by consumers, many people still point out flaws in the brand. For example, some claim that BYD’s electric cars are not selling well. However, based on our review, there are quite a few "bestselling" pure electric models from BYD. In fact, several models had sales exceeding 10.000 units in August, including the following:
1. Seagull
August Sales: 46.830 units
The Seagull is a small pure electric car launched by BYD. It features a two-box design, with a cute and playful appearance. The starting price is between 69.800 and 85.800 RMB. It adopts a 5-door, 4-seat layout. The entry-level version has a CLTC pure electric range of 305 kilometers, while the long-range version reaches 405 kilometers. It’s a great choice for commuting, and its price is quite friendly for young buyers.
2. Yuan PLUS
August Sales: 27.046 units
The Yuan PLUS is a compact SUV with a price range of 119.800 to 163.800 RMB. Compared to the Seagull, the Yuan PLUS offers a larger size and more space, catering to basic family needs. Its pure electric range is 430 km or 510 km, making it a suitable choice for young families.
3. Yuan UP
August Sales: 19.344 units
The Yuan UP is already one of the best-selling models in the small SUV segment. Despite its starting price of 96.800 RMB and an electric range of only 301 km or 401 km, consumer enthusiasm remains high. People find this model particularly stylish. While it may be pricier than other micro or small commuter cars, it makes up for it with more space and decent practicality, making it a great daily commuter.
4. Dolphin
August Sales: 15.984 units
The BYD Dolphin is positioned higher than the Seagull, with a larger size and a starting price of 99.800 RMB. It also adopts a two-box layout, offering both compactness and more spacious interiors. The model comes in multiple versions with different ranges, including 302 km, 401 km, 420 km, and 520 km.
5. Qin PLUS EV
August Sales: 15.653 units
Compared to the plug-in hybrid Qin PLUS, which starts at 79.800 RMB, the all-electric Qin PLUS is priced significantly higher, starting at 109.800 RMB. Many people purchase this car primarily for ride-hailing services, trusting BYD’s technology and quality. The Qin PLUS EV offers electric ranges of 420 km or 510 km.
6. Song PLUS EV
August Sales: 11.419 units
The BYD Song PLUS is a highly popular compact SUV. Not only is the plug-in hybrid version selling well, but the pure electric version is also favored by consumers. The Song PLUS EV starts at 149.800 RMB, with electric ranges of 520 km or 605 km. It meets family needs perfectly, and is ideal for those without long-distance travel requirements.
The six BYD pure electric models mentioned above have garnered significant market attention, with their sales outperforming many competitors in the same class. However, these models are relatively affordable. We look forward to seeing BYD introduce more impressive models in the 200.000 RMB+ range. Which of these models do you find most appealing?
