The reputation of the BYD Han is highly polarized. Some call it the "light of domestic products," while others label it a "cult brand." So, what's the real deal? Let's hear from this car owner from Yuncheng. Over a month ago, a Yuncheng car enthusiast spent 208.000 RMB on a BYD Han and now says, "Thank you, wife."
To give credit where it's due, the exterior design of the BYD Han is certainly impressive. It's elegant where it should be and sharp where it needs to be. The black dragon-scale grille and matrix LED headlights give the car a particularly fierce look, while the overall stance appears graceful.
The black paint gives off a sleek and glossy feel, and the chrome detailing around the Han emblem on the grille adds an artistic touch. This Yuncheng owner shared: "My previous car was a Toyota Camry, which I had only driven for just over two years, but my wife managed to total it."
The silver wheels paired with the black body make the car look especially elegant. Though it has a green license plate (for hybrid or electric cars), it's equipped with a 1.5L engine producing 139 horsepower, along with a 145kW motor, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 8 seconds.
Personally, I feel that while the interior of the BYD Han may not be as premium as Tesla or NIO, it’s still well-equipped with plenty of features.
The Yuncheng car owner said: "I bought the Camry for its reliability—good quality, low fuel consumption, and cheap maintenance. To put it simply, I couldn’t afford to take a risk with a bad purchase, especially for something over 200.000 RMB. It would be frustrating to buy a low-quality car. But after my wife totaled the Camry, my first thought was that Japanese cars really aren’t that safe. When my wife suddenly braked and rear-ended the car in front, the car behind almost turned our sedan into a hatchback. I figured, even if we got it repaired, I didn’t want it anymore, so we scrapped it and got a new car. After seeing many friends opt for either the BYD Song PLUS or other models from BYD’s Dynasty series, I decided to give it a try too. With so many people praising it, it couldn’t be that bad. After buying it, I realized this car is indeed great. First, the smart car system is something Toyota can’t match. And in terms of economy, it’s even better than Toyota, with a fuel consumption of less than 2L per 100 km. If I rely on charging and don’t use fuel, it saves even more. I have to thank my wife this time for changing my perception of cars."
