1. Is the rear space small?
For daily household use, seating two people in the rear is not a problem. However, compared to vehicles of the same class and wheelbase, the rear space of the Xiaomi SU7 is slightly smaller.
Adjusting the front seat to a normal position, with Tianya Jun being 187 cm tall, sitting in the rear means his head almost touches the roof, leaving only a finger's width of space above his head and three fingers of legroom.
Compared to the rear space, the front passenger seat space is more problematic. The main issue is the insufficient depth and steep angle for foot placement. For a more comfortable posture, the front passenger needs to move the seat back significantly, which further reduces the already limited rear space. It’s impossible to achieve both comfort and spaciousness simultaneously.
2. Without soundproof glass and frameless doors, is it noisy?
We found it to be relatively quiet and didn't hear the significant noise that some online reviews mentioned. In its price range, the NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) performance is at a mainstream level.
Many car reviewers previously noted that the chassis noise and tire noise were loud, likely because the early media test vehicles were equipped with Pirelli P Zero performance tires, which are indeed noisy.
Our top-end Xiaomi SU7 version comes with 20-inch wheels and Michelin PS EV tires, and during actual driving, the control of chassis and tire noise is quite good.
3. Is the chassis low? Will it scrape on curbs?
The suspension height of the Xiaomi SU7 can be manually adjusted. When set to the lowest, the ground clearance is only 124 mm, lower than an iPhone 15 Pro, making it likely to scrape on regular curbs.
When raised to the highest position, the ground clearance reaches 164 mm, just enough to go over curbs. However, be cautious with higher curbs.
4. Is the chassis hard?
Taking our Xiaomi SU7 Max version as an example, the top model is equipped with air suspension and CDC electromagnetic suspension. In comfort mode, it feels like wearing sports shoes—comfortable for running but offering more support and heaviness than slippers when jumping.
Switching to sport mode, the hardness is very noticeable. Comparatively, it feels like wearing casual leather shoes, where you can feel every stone you step on. In this mode, the road feel is clearer, and the support is better.
5. Is the performance too aggressive? Is it dangerous to drive daily?
In master launch mode, the top-end Xiaomi SU7 has a tested 0-100 km/h acceleration of about 3.1 seconds, making it a “straight-line king.”
However, if you find this speed overwhelming, the Xiaomi SU7 thoughtfully provides a novice mode, significantly suppressing its performance. In this mode, the tested 0-100 km/h acceleration is 8.49 seconds, very safe. Additionally, there is a comfort mode with a 0-100 km/h acceleration of around 5.64 seconds.
Overall, the car can cater to both speed enthusiasts and beginners with its various driving modes.
6. How is the range?
The car has driven 1578 km, mainly in urban and highway settings, with most driving in the city. According to the displayed energy consumption, the average electricity consumption is 20.3 kWh/100 km.
Based on this consumption, the actual range of this Xiaomi SU7. with a CLTC range of 800 km, is about 497.5 km, achieving a range fulfillment rate of 62%. Among similar vehicles, it has relatively high energy consumption.
7. Without sunshades, is it hot inside?
In one word: yes. It gets very hot. Any vehicle with a panoramic sunroof and no sunshade will be hot. Avoid touching the sunroof in summer as it gets very hot and can be dangerous, especially if children are in the backseat.
Moreover, this car costs around 300.000 yuan, yet it doesn't even come with a basic manual sunshade. To get one, you have to buy it from the Xiaomi store for 299 yuan, which seems a bit unreasonable.
8. Is the integrated rearview mirror easy to damage?
When adjusting the rearview mirror, the entire base rotates along with it, indicating a gear structure inside. We have tested it rigorously, and whether you forcibly fold it forward or backward, it doesn’t affect the normal use of the rearview mirror. So, there’s no need to worry about this.
9. What about smart driving features?
Currently, the Xiaomi SU7 only offers highway smart driving. The salesperson mentioned that urban smart driving might be gradually enabled by the end of the month. For highway smart driving, the Xiaomi SU7 has a physical button on the left side of the steering wheel for easy activation.
The actual experience aligns with mainstream electric vehicle smart driving performance. It can automatically change lanes and accelerate, but there are no major surprises. Compared to Huawei models like the Zhijie S7 and Wenjie M7. there’s still a gap.
10. Personal complaints
Lastly, here are some personal complaints.
Firstly, the car only comes with two card keys, and you need to purchase a mechanical key separately from the Xiaomi store for 399 yuan. Additionally, the charging station must be bought separately. For the Max version we purchased, with 800-volt voltage, the charging station costs 5999 yuan, while the 7-kilowatt charging station costs 3999 yuan. Most households don't have a charging station. Given that it’s not included with the car, it shouldn’t be so expensive. After spending 300.000 yuan on the car, spending another 6000 yuan on a charging station seems unfair.
